Feta in olive oil and spices – at home

Since I’ve decided to eat much less meat I kind of developed a very strong liking towards cheeses. We go to the local grocery every Thursday and buy loads of different types of it.

I have always loved them and the different approaches to create something more exciting then the actual one on the plate. I’ve already showed you how to make nakládaný hermelín, this time I made something similar, but without Camembert.

It’s not that hard, and it doesn’t take more than an hour to do.

You need cheese like feta, or anything white and creamy – but not that creamy. It should not be spreadable!

First you have to cut the feta into cubes or dices, it depends on how you like it. I prefer if the pieces are a bit smaller, so I cut them into 7-8 mm dices.

Then jut get as many ingredients as you want, cut them into pieces, add some spices pour oil on it until covers the whole thing – and let it rest for a couple of days in the fridge. Put in the ingredients layer by layer.

What I used this time:

  • feta cheese (200 gramms)
  • purple onion (one, quartered then sliced)
  • garlic (1 glove, chopped)
  • dried tomato flakes
  • basil
  • olive oll

What you can add:

  • chilli
  • pepper
  • paprika
  • and so on…

I couldn’t wait so I opened the jar one and two days after, and it is very good by then. If you don’t use chilli, even children love it. Good for a nice toast, good for pasta, or just as a side dish for something.
