Two possible teams for the match vs Crystal Palace

So, I pick two set of players for tonight’s game. The first one is without baring in mind the FA Cup match at the Wembley in a couple of days. No resting, no rotation, the best set of players available.

And the next one is with those important on Saturday rested with some players given playing time.

Still, it is a must win game, especially now that the neighbors lost two points at Newcastle!

Gameweek 36, Crystal Palace

I can’t really write anything, so this time I’m just gonna post the table.

OK, no, it’s quite a good match ahead, Palace away, they are in twelfth position, rather secure – but remember last year, when Liverpool thought the same? They lost their title to them. Anyway, we can win and we can loose the 4th place by the time the game finishes at Stamford Bridge.

So, if there is a must win game, then this one is.

But then, on the other hand, we seem to be heading for a nice pre-window, as we seem to be doing our business before it, so that the deals are finalized prior to the opening of transfer season. Good news, really, with Depay coming in July at the beginning of the tour and the pre-season.

And there’s more to follow, as we are said.

And my team, I was really tempted to leave de Gea out, because he’s just…, I don’t know, I don’t understand this situation with his contract. He should make up his mind and clear it completely. I would go for di Maria, to have an attacking line-up, and give it all we can.

Who should start v Crystal Palace?

Not an easy question, especially given our nice little injury list. We miss

  • Evans,
  • Jones,
  • Rafael,
  • Falcao.

Obviously, Smalling is suspended because of his stupid action but let’s forget that already, enough of that.

It must be de Gea in goal, and with his performances so far Shaw on the left. As CP are a supposedly easy opponent, if I were LVG I may give a go to McNair and Blackett as CBs, whilst having Valencia on the right.

To give a bit of a support for the CBs, I would play Blind and Fellaini as defensive midfielders, with di Maria on the left, Januzaj on the right, and Rooney behind van Persie or Wilson. I would probably go for van Persie and take him off after 55 minutes or something like that.

de Gea

Valencia   McNair   Blackett   Shaw

Carrick   Blind

Januzaj   Rooney   di Maria

van Persie

Fellaini should be given match time given his recent form, but Carrick should be on the bench to replace either of the CBs or Fellaini/Blind in case, just like Herrera if he’s match fit.

I would love to see the team score more than three but you never know. I do believe that they are improving from time to time, from match to match, but the points tally is not good enough, that’s for sure. It’s less than last year but everything apart from that looks brighter. The spirit, the cohesion, the team – only they have to convert that into goals and those goals into wins.

Well, I’m always a bit overexcited, but this time we’ll have a rout. Surely.
